Grading & Levelingin East Texas

Concept visualization

Land grading in East Texas is about moving dirt until water goes where you want it and the ground sits flat enough to build or work on. We back-drag pads, fill low spots, and set drainage grade with a compact track loader and a rake.

What we grade and level

Grading is moving dirt until the ground sits the way the job needs it. That covers building pads, low spots that hold water, drainage that runs the wrong way, and arenas or pens that have gone uneven. Land grading in East Texas is mostly about two things at once: flat enough to use, and shaped so water leaves.

  • Building pads for barns, shops, sheds, and homes
  • Low spot fills and yard leveling
  • Drainage grading so water sheds off, not in
  • Arena, pen, and paddock leveling

Why grade matters more than flat

People say they want it level, but what they usually want is level to walk and build on, with just enough fall to drain. Dead flat holds water. A pad that ponds after every rain will stay soft and rut up. We shape a slight, deliberate fall so water runs to the edges and away, then leave the working surface smooth and even.

How we work it

We cut the high spots and carry that material to the low spots, back-dragging with the bucket and finishing with the rake to pull it smooth. Where a job needs a real target, we set string lines and stakes and check the grade as we go. The compact track loader spreads its weight over the tracks, so it works soft ground without sinking in and chewing it up the way a wheeled machine can.

What to expect on your ground

East Texas clay grades well when the moisture is right and turns to a mess when it is soaked, so timing after rain matters. We will be straight with you about whether the ground is ready. A pad usually wants to sit and settle before you build on it, and if you are hauling in select fill or base, that changes the plan. Tell us what the area is for and we will grade it for that use, not just to look flat.

Grading pairs well with the rest of the work. Cutting a pad and need a gravel drive up to it, or a water line trenched in before you build? One machine, one trip, less mobilizing.
